As you may all have noticed, the activity we're undertaking is touching on, but not identical to, the WEBM effort, and is not just IETF linked. So, we've decided to rename the mailing list (by the simple measure of subscribing everyone to a new mailing list and sending this message out to both before closing the old one). The new name is "RTC-Web(a)alvestrand.no" - all other options should be as before. Harald

Date for get-together set: Wednesday, October 6, in Mountain View

The program committee has landed on a date: Wednesday, October 6, 2010, in Mountain View, California. Planned time scope is from 0830 to 1700, with a plan being made for a voluntary social dinner the night before. Attendance is invitation-only, with the proviso that anyone who's planning to come should submit a (short) paper on the subject well before the meeting - so that people have had the opportunity to do some thinking before the workshop. A more proper invitation will be sent out to this list + a number of other people shortly (end-of-week-ish). Harald

Second Doodle: October 4 or October 6?

The program committee just finished its first meeting. We've got a list of names that we want to invite, or ask about who to invite - as people sign on, they will be added to the mailing list, but it's not an open mailing list at the moment. We have two choices: Monday, October 4 in New York or Wednesday, October 6 in Mountain View. For people at the NY conferences, the travel to NY is short; for people not at the NY conferences, but living on the West Coast, the travel to California is short. So it's a tradeoff between difficulties. In both cases, we would start with a dinner the evening before for people who come in early, and then have an all-day event (8 to 4 or so). I have created a Doodle poll for picking the date of this meeting. Details of format, invitees and so on will be forthcoming once the committee's made up its mind.
