Note that registration and WG/Bof scheduling for IETF-79 starts on August 9th: http://www.ietf.org/meeting/cutoff-dates-2010.html#IETF79 DISPATCH sets the first deadline such that it's still possible to request a BoF for topics that may be wider in scope and require broader community review. The deadlines for BoFs are set by the leadership so that there is time to consider BoFs in the scheduling. Also, as Gonzalo noted in a separate email, WGs need to have a draft charter at the time they request a WG slot. Reminder: Paper deadline for October 6 workshop is on MONDAY

Reminder to all: In the invitation you all got, we said: All attendees will be required to author a brief paper in advance of the workshop (at least 1 - 4 pages), providing a perspective on one or many of the issues above, or other topics relevant to real-time interactive communications in the browser. A single paper can have multiple authors, however we request that the authors of the paper be real contributors and limited to no more than four. Papers are due September 20, 2010, and must be submitted by emailing it to rtc-web-papers(a)alvestrand.no. September 20 is on Monday of next week. If you have a preliminary draft ready, but don't want to show it to everyone else in "final form", just send it in so that we know what you're thinking about, and tell us when you expect to have something that you want to share with the rest of the workshop attendees All papers will be shared with the workshop attendees well before the meting; the purpose is to stimulate thinking and discussion (on the list and off it), so that we can have as much clear thinking as possible when we get to Mountain View in October. Brief update - RTC-Web summit

Just a quick update on the summit: - You should all have gotten your detailed invites to the workshop - in case some have lost it, I'm attaching a generic copy. - People have been slow in responding. If you know that you intend to come, please tell us - we're keeping a list! - We've got a number of other contacts (IBM, for exampe) that haven't decided who's the right person to work with us yet, but who are definitely interested. - The pure Codec folks working on WEBM / VP8 are planning a meeting on October 7, also in MTV. I've invited them to come, and they've invited interested people to their meeting - those of us who work at both levels will have plenty of time to talk! Looking forward to meeting all of you in Mountain View! Harald

List name change: webm-ietf -> rtc-web

As you may all have noticed, the activity we're undertaking is touching on, but not identical to, the WEBM effort, and is not just IETF linked. So, we've decided to rename the mailing list (by the simple measure of subscribing everyone to a new mailing list and sending this message out to both before closing the old one). The new name is "RTC-Web(a)alvestrand.no" - all other options should be as before. Harald
