A need has arisen in MMUSIC for a media type to use strictly as an example. In the particular case, something like application/example would do. Discussion of the matter led to the suggestion that registrations be defined for */example (presumably scoped to the standards tree only) and a new top-level media type example/*. Since the use would be for documentation only, it would seem that there would not be much to say in most fields of the registration template.

Sounds like a good idea to me. In fact I almost wish we'd done this in the revised registration procedure document (although perhaps its BCP status makes that a touch problematic). Ned
