Hello IETF-types, RFC 2361 "WAVE and AVI Codec Registries" lists a number of codecs used by wave files (audio/vnd.wave) and avi files (video/vnd.avi) and these values are also listed in an IANA registry http://www.iana.org/assignments/wave-avi-codec-registry However, the IANA media types registry does not show these types to have been registered http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/audio/ http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/video/ I find it odd that there is an IANA registry for parameters to two unregistered types. Given that these are in the vendor tree, it would seem fairly easy to register them, although I see that the author of RFC 2361 (copied) no longer works for that vendor.
